Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs

As you know the Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) is implementing its tourism registration system within the provincial tourism act.

This registration requires tourism related businesses within certain compulsory registration categories (information packs on this requirement can be attained from Maxwell at Ugu SCT) register with EDTEA- the fee is R150 per annum.

Part of each registration submission includes:

1) Proof of membership of a tourism association (Ugu SCT) which needs our membership certificate (upon payment of membership fees) as proof and:

2) Authorisation from the local authority (i.e. municipality) to conduct business.

This communication is to inform members that we request that within 2 months of this communication date, Ugu SCT members who conduct business within the Edtea compulsory categories register with Edtea and provide Maxwell with copy of Edtea certification for our files.

Once this period has lapsed, we in the interests of those tourism practitioners who are compliant and within legislation are going to enter into a process whereby Edtea will be notified of non registered enterprises whereupon they can action processes in terms of the act.

I trust that all members who need to register will take this communication seriously as we want to ensure that our destination and its service providers have the creditability well beyond other destinations in our province.

Please convey any enquires to Maxwell Mhlongo on membership@tourismsouthcoast.co.za or download the EDTEA registration pack, click on links below to download:
