Tourism Investment

The KZN South Coast destination falls within the Ugu district municipality, which includes the Umdoni, Umzumbe, Umuziwabantu and Ray Nkonyeni municipalities. The main economic hub is coastal town, Port Shepstone, centrally located within the district.

The area’s main economic propellers are Agriculture (banana, sugar cane, forestry, coffee, macadamia nuts, tropical fruit, tea tree, beef, amadumbe, beans); Tourism (leisure, coastal, accommodation, adventure, events, film); Services (government, retail);

Some of these projects include:Manufacturing (clothing, textiles); Property Development (construction) and Informal sector (food vendors, taxi industry, car washes, car mechanics, plumbers, spaza shops).

Investment is sought across the region for tourism and tourism-related projects that will bring economic benefit to the region and its communities.
